Notes on a job search

I suppose my experiences are uniquely my own. I am 33 and looking to change trades. There is a lot of hustle and information out there for early career developers. Lots of it seems toxic and most of the helpful stuff comes back to actually networking with real people. There is not much hope for dropping your resume and cover letter onto a job posting page, there is simply too much noise. I hate saying things like "find out what makes you unique" because such things kill uniqueness, but there is a bit of a truth to it.

Honestly, the most important thing for new opportunities is hope -- hope that if you interact with enough other people you will eventually interact with the one who sees your truth and potential. Cynicism will keep you from reaching out, hope will keep you going. But where does hope come from?
